Hello Newton Families,

I am pleased to introduce myself to you as the Ward 5 representative to our School Committee. I’m committed to our schools and am dedicated to improving them in any way I can.

Our schools have been the center of a rich community life for my family, and I hope they will be for you too whether or not you have school-aged children. Our personal engagement is deep: My wife and I are involved parents of daughters at Oak Hill and Newton South, and I am a volunteer math tutor at Zervas. I sit on the Oak Hill School Council, and have been active with PTO activities throughout my children’s academic life.

Beyond this, our schools have hosted community ed, athletic events, local organization meetings, polling, and are a community-building asset for everyone.

The skills I’ve developed as a structural engineer and local business owner apply well to the issues of the day – repairing our deteriorated school buildings, negotiating fair, affordable compensation for our teachers, and working creatively within our constrained budget. As a School Committee member, I aim to foster and support a collaborative approach and to represent you well.

I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about any issues of concern to you – and how we can address them effectively. Please contact me with your thoughts and questions.
