Hello Newton Families,
I’m pleased to introduce myself to you as the Ward 5 School Committee candidate for reelection. It has been an honor to work on behalf of our students for the past four years, and I’m proud of the many successes we’ve had on topics as varied as academic achievement, student safety, school building repairs and reconstruction, and contracts with our teaching professionals.
My wife Theresa and I are parents of two daughters who have thrived in our school system – Celina, a sophomore at Oberlin College and Tema, a junior at Newton South. We’ve seen from the inside how well NPS can work while we recognize that there is always room for improvement. I’m asking for your vote so that I may continue to contribute to the excellence of Newton Public Schools.
My approach to service:
- Be available to the public, listen carefully to other perspectives, and be honest and direct about my views;
- Be prepared, by thoroughly educating myself on topics that come before me;
- Tend thoughtfully and with sensitivity to the tradeoffs that are part of every issue;
- Make responsible decisions that do the most for the most students, while working with finite resources.
I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about any issues of concern to you – and how we can address them effectively. Please contact me with your thoughts and questions.
